Upon completion of the 12-month contract, all schools pay their teachers a bonus equal to one month’s salary. This is usually paid along with the last month’s salary.

The school is not required to pay the bonus if the teacher terminates his or her contract prior to its completion for any reason, nor if the employee is fired for any of the reasons listed in Teacher Dismissal section.

If the employee is released from his or her contract because the school is closing or undergoing financial difficulties, then the school may be required to pay a pro-rated bonus based on how much of the contract the employee has completed. If this situation arises, PlanetESL will easily be able to ascertain if you are entitled to any bonus and can ensure that you get it, so don’t hesitate to ask us!
